Increase Website traffic - Get more clicks

< Read page one - What is SEO

The ultimate goal is to have your web pages listed in the top 10 for the terms you can capitalize by turning them into sales. There is no reason to target words or phrases that have special meaning to you and not your target audience. Don't waste time on search terms that equate to vanity. You want to target search phrases that actually bring you potential clients.

One method you can use is Pay-Per-Click (PPC) advertising. This is where you bid on search terms and the search engine returns a link to your site for these phrases. If you are willing to pay the right price and your page is relevant to the phrase then you can get targeted traffic immediately. Many people don't realize that you can use this method to track the value of search words and terms also. There is some work involved if you want good results from PPC. At Blizzard, we manage the PPC campaigns for many of our clients. The search engines do provide some good information for the do-it-yourself types. In most cases the amount of time you spend doing PPC yourself could be better spent running your company and leave PPC to the pros. In many cases the PPC maintenance cost will cover itself when you consider the time it takes and the higher click-thru-rate (CTR) you should get from a professional service.

Once your pages have been tweaked and the search engines are serving you up for your choice phrases you can reduce your PPC budget. You will probably want to keep paying for some lesser terms you are not optimized for and in some cases you may want to keep all terms active for PPC. Believe it or not, we have experienced number one listings for terms but users still click the PPC ad rather than the top search result. If we weren't paying then the next PPC ad would get the traffic. Some people find value in the fact that you are willing to pay for their click.

In the end the website owner that gets attention and holds it wins. You have to combine optimization, marketing and design for the ultimate result.
